Today's Student Meeting: A List of Last Minute Things

Visas
Every student has been issued with two copies of their visas. These are to be carried with their passports.

Photo IDs
Student IDs and/or drivers licences should be carried at all times for when photo ID is needed.

Cash - US + Australian
Hopefully by now everyone has their systems worked out for money. Both USD and some Australian dollars will be handy.
An update on Sydney Airport - we have checked with the airport and the airline. The airline seem to have the most say about whether or not we can get out of the airport during our stop on the way back, but they have not guaranteed that this will be possible, so we are going to need to play this by ear. If we do end up getting out, we will attempt to use any remaining Tour Fund money to pay for group transport around Sydney.

Climate and Weather
It's pretty cold in New York still (lows of around 5 degrees) and rain a possibility, so make sure jackets are packed.

Cell phone
Unless you have a plan which allows you to use a certain amount of data overseas, we advise that mobile/roaming data should be switched off. Wifi will be available at accommodation. Cellphones must be carried for any emergency communication.

Small Day Bags / Hand Luggage
A backpack is recommended for your carry on luggage. This is better than a suitcase for carry on luggage, as having a small day bag will be of much more practical use as we walk / ride / bus / train around different places. You will likely want to have a bottle of water and a jumper on hand at least.

Medical Information
We have checked everyone's medical details. Please let us know if there are any medical conditions that the school does not know about.

New York City Planning
We have had a change to our New York itinerary, due to a change in Harlem Tour company.
We will now be guided by The Big Onion Walking Tours, who promise a great experience and have been far more communicative than our original choice. However, they can only fit us in in the afternoon.

This means our Central Park Tour options will be in the morning, rather than the afternoon as per the itinerary. We have several interesting options, which we discussed at the meeting, all of which happen to have movie tie-ins:

1. The American Museum of Natural History
(as featured in the Night at the Museum movie)

2. The Guggenheim Museum and Art Gallery
(as featured in Men in Black)

3. Central Park Zoo
(as featured in Madagascar)

The group will split into 3, with teachers accompanying each group. There might be opportunities to go to more than one of these attractions - we will just have to see how things go.

LA non-Disney Group planning (LA Day 1)
This group is making use of the Hop on Hop off bus and will be aiming to catch the black line shuttle direct from our accommodation into the Hollywood area.
Full map and list of attractions can be viewed here.

Finally, PLEASE also check through your travel instructions again on the slideshow I posted last time.
